Welcome to Poyetry
I decided to start a new blog that just focuses on some of the poetry I have been writing. In the United States of the early 21st Century, not many people care for poetry. I think that's too bad. I have always liked reading it and enjoyed writing it. I hope people who visit here enjoy this site, too. I will post some of my own poetry and write some about my favorite poetry and poets. I frankly don't know how regularly I will be writing here. But I hope I can do this regularly. I have a big backlog, but I think it will be a real struggle to get the time to do this!
Here is my picture and a poem to start us off:
Held fast, I fly
Betsy McKenzie
Held fast upon the unmoving pin of pain,
I could not read, nor write, nor walk, nor chat.
“Be thou still, and learn to listen,
Learn to wait upon the Lord.”
So, slowly, on broken wings,
My heart learned to rise up,
Where before it busied itself,
Stirring up the dust.
