Refetal

You know, you know –
The way he walks?

You know,
The way he trudges along,

Hunched?

To protect his heart
From the blows
Of a world he doesn't
Comprehend.

he wields his intellect
Like a pike
To hold the world away.

It pierces me to the heart
To see how he curls in
On himself,
As if returning
To the womb.
