Tragedy

It started out so bold
Heart high,
Exceed their expectations
Misunderestemated all my life
At last, vindicated
By popular acclaim
Mission Accomplished!

herded by blank faced men in suits
goaded by fears
what if they bomb the whitehouse
left bicycling
while blank faced men in suits
took shelter in the west virginia sanctuary
behind bombproof iron doors

how did it get so bad?
why how what who
I’m so confused
don’t know what to do

they don’t even call me now
wish I weren’t their son
all I want is for dad and mom to say
Good Job, Son, We’re So Proud
