Moon
Moon
Betsy McKenzie
Our moon is so lovely
Just right for poets and
Love-songs. Shining
White, waxing and waning.
So large it moves all the
Tides, rocking us gently.
No other planet has a
Moon so large for its size.
How did our blue planet
Come by its shining silver sister?
Perhaps a violent meteor or comet
Tore it out from Earth’s side, long, long ago.
Our moon rules all waters,
Down to our own fluids, tides
In our bodies, gently rocking, in and out.
