Rivers in the Sky

Rivers in the Sky
Betsy McKenzie

Rivers in the sky,
Freighted with silt
Of rain, snow, sleet,
Smog and dust and
Sometimes fish and
Locusts and beetles.

On the ground, I feel
Nothing of the great
Currents high above.
My only hint is the
Waves and curls of
Clouds, sheeting,
Sweeping across the sky.

How can there be
Such a separate
Reality? One face
For me, the other
For God.
